For Her: What to Wear to an Awards Ceremony

Written by Laura Lewko for lauralewko.com

So, if you haven’t already heard, I’ve been invited to present the Best Social Event of the Year at the Golden Owl Awards. It’s all set to be a fantastic event, filled with some of the most influential hospitality individuals in Vancouver, BC. As a newcomer to the digital influencer scene, the invitation to be part of and present at the awards is almost an award in itself! Since knowing I would be part of the ceremony – other than working on my speech  – the focus was of course, my outfit!! So below are my best suggestions for outfits. If you are planning to attend or you have been nominated – check it out!

The Little Black dress

It’s a basic dress you can never go wrong and if you want to add glamour try a sparkle or red shoes.

SHEER MESH IS SOFTLY GATHERED TO A V-BACK NECKLINE FOR A VINTAGE-INSPIRED START TO A LITHE CREPE SHEATH STREAMLINED BY PRONOUNCED VERTICAL SEAMS.

Season Trend

Velvet is back and a hit for the fall/winter and it adds elegance when it comes to light.

LOOK VIVACIOUS IN VELVET IN THIS MIDI-LENGTH DRESS THAT’S READY FOR PARTIES, DATE NIGHTS AND DANCING THE NIGHT AWAY.

Classic Sequin

Sequin is all the rage and can be used from casual to gala occasions. If you are ready for the spotlight it is your best choice.

LACQUERED IN SCINTILLATING SEQUINS, THIS SLEEVELESS GOWN CAPTIVATES AND BEGUILES IN A FIGURE-SKIMMING COLUMN THAT FLOWS TO A SWEEPING MERMAID FINISH.

SHOES

Avoid over chunky, thick soled shoes like clogs. Make sure the color of the shoe compliments the color of your gown. It does not need to match exactly, but needs to coordinate.

  • If in doubt, opt for a black shoe.
  • You can also spice things up by choosing a shoe with of sparkle on it.
  • Do not wear any shoe with a wedge, cork or wood in its design.
  • If you cannot or do not wish to wear high heels, you can find flats that have glamour and embellishments.
